Abobakar said the festival will be composed of a series of activities such as “crab forum” on December 15 at South Seas Mall Ballroom that would also feature crab technologies and its business opportunities and the three-year crab industry development plan of Cotabato City, signing of business matching agreements and the launching of the new MCCCIFI website.

She said the crab forum will also highlight the campaign for the renewal of business permits in January 2012 to crab producers, retailers and other local business owners in the city. A Business Permit Licensing System help desk will be set up at the venue to attend to inquiries regarding business applications and renewals.

Meanwhile, a Crab Culinary Arts Competition on December 16 at the Peoples Palace lobby is open to amateur cooks who can win some exciting prizes by creating a delicious dish using “alimango” or the Cotabato crabs as the main or secondary ingredients.

Highlighting the activities is the Crab Race on December 18 at the Cotabato City Plaza.

Partnering with the organizers are the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 12 and the Growth with Equity in Mindanao Program of the US Agency for International Development.
